USIJ filed an amicus brief in Collision Communications, Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., urging the Federal Circuit to reverse a district court ruling that denied a small inventor-led company a permanent injunction after a jury found willful patent infringement. USIJ asserts that so-called “efficient infringement” by Big Tech has gutted the patent system’s core protection for startups and individual inventors.
“Translated into simple English, efficient infringement means it is more efficient to steal technology than it is to compensate those who create it.”
